I turn aging, business‑critical systems into secure, cost‑efficient cloud platforms.

Platforms that cut risk, remove cost, and unlock new revenue — built across freight rail, manufacturing, and regulated industries over 15+ years.

About

I’ve spent 15+ years doing one thing exceptionally well: inheriting the aging, business‑critical systems a company quietly depends on — and rebuilding them into modern cloud platforms that are faster, safer, and actually create new value.

I’ve done it across three very different industries. In electronics manufacturing, I rebuilt a mission‑critical production system during a concurrent ERP rollout — and the traceability work led to a co‑invented U.S. patent. In legal/compliance, I re‑architected an ACA platform from a single‑stored‑procedure Access system into .NET, cutting processing from days to hours. And at Genesee & Wyoming, I’ve launched the company’s first customer‑facing digital portal, co‑built an AI‑powered cash‑application system that cut manual work 40%, and moved our data warehouse to Azure — taking new‑dataset delivery from months to weeks.

I pair deep Microsoft Azure and .NET expertise with an MBA’s instinct for the business outcome, and I lead the teams that ship the work. I care less about the technology for its own sake and more about what it does — cost removed, risk eliminated, revenue enabled.

Legacy, rebuilt into leverage.

1st

customer‑facing digital platform in company history

A freight‑rail operator’s first customer‑facing digital platform

Challenge —
Genesee & Wyoming had never offered customers a digital front door. Core revenue streams like railcar auctions ran on fax and email, real‑estate applications lived in a system with a security gap, and customers had asked for years for visibility into their own data.
Approach —
As lead architect, lead developer, and UI lead, I designed and built the company’s first customer‑facing portal on Azure — automating and gamifying the railcar auction process, migrating real‑estate applications off the vulnerable legacy system, and embedding self‑service Power BI reporting.
Outcome —
Reduced errors and freed up customer‑rep time, increased bidding activity, closed a security vulnerability found in penetration testing, and finally gave customers the self‑service reporting they’d long requested — while opening new cross‑sell opportunities across the portal.

40%

reduction in manual transaction handling

Automating cash application with AI and smart matching

Challenge —
The finance team spent heavy manual effort matching incoming payments to invoices, with duplicate data entry across systems.
Approach —
I co‑built an AI‑powered cash‑application system using smart matching, integrated with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, so work done in the app pushes batches directly into D365.
Outcome —
Cut manual transaction handling by 40% and eliminated duplicate data entry between systems.

Months
→ Weeks

to deliver a new dataset to the business

Rebuilding an enterprise data warehouse on Azure

Challenge —
Delivering a new dataset — concept through ETL to production‑ready Data Marts — took four to six months, throttled by over‑engineered processing layers, on‑prem scaling limits, and dual‑site hardware coordination. The Data Warehouse team had become the company’s reporting bottleneck.
Approach —
Leading a team of eight, I migrated the warehouse from on‑premise to Azure and rebuilt the pipeline on Data Vault 2.0 with automated, templated ingestion (WhereScape), so source files trigger near‑immediate load and Data Mart creation.
Outcome —
Cut delivery from four to six months down to a few weeks, reduced infrastructure and DBA consulting overhead, and eliminated the team as the bottleneck — the organization’s constraint moved downstream to BI.

Patent & MES rebuild. Rebuilt a manufacturing execution system used by ~1,000 people across three plants — work that led to a co‑invented U.S. patent, and trained the team as certified Epicor developers to avoid a six‑figure consulting engagement.

ACA compliance platform. Re‑architected a platform serving 100+ clients from a single‑stored‑procedure Access system into .NET — cutting processing from days to hours.

CosmoBase

a solid foundation for building with Azure Cosmos DB

An enterprise‑grade Azure Cosmos DB library for .NET that I created and maintain, published on NuGet under the Apache‑2.0 license. Every Cosmos project ends up rewriting the same boilerplate — audit trails, validation, bulk operations, caching, retry handling. CosmoBase centralizes all of it behind a clean repository pattern, wired up with a single AddCosmoBase() call, so teams can focus on business logic instead of plumbing.
